Have You Seen This: Beauty And The Beast 1991 and 2017 Side By Side

This certainly is a tale as old as time (or at least 26 years).  I remember back when the first Beauty and the Beast released into the theaters. I was a young lad in a large family.  I remember my father taking all of us kids to the drive in theater so we could catch the double feature, and Beauty and the Beast was one of them.

I remember missing the first part of the movie because the window hanging speaker wasn’t working.  It didn’t take long to realize, (even without sound) Maurice was an inventor with all of his crazy contraptions hanging from his head.  Shortly after he takes off to the fair the sound kicked in and we were able to enjoy the film.

This Beauty and the Beast Comparison is Awesome!

Being an avid Disney fan, it didn’t take much effort to watch this and many other Disney films, several hundred times over the last 25 years.  You can imagine my excitement when I discovered Disney was recreating this story.

Well, excited and disappointed.  I love the fact they have the technology to make a live action version and that the storyline follows pretty close to the original. This is an amazing opportunity to visit concepts they may not have been able to dive into because of the constraints of animation.

However, I’m disappointed because I feel the Disney remakes of their animated films are an unfortunate attempt to capitalize on the nostalgia market.  By tapping into the nostalgia crowd, they are cutting their slice of a multi billion dollar money maker without the gamble of trying out a completely new story line.  So like everyone else, Disney is in the nostalgia market.  Others include the Re re boots of Batman, Superman, Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Star Trek. (These topics we can discuss another time).

Walt Disney wasn’t a big fan of sequels and I would imagine this general feeling he would have applied to reboots.

That being said.  Someone recently shared with me this Side-by-Side trailer for Beauty and the Beast 1991 and 2017.  I loved it and felt it worthy to share here on Tomorrow Soup.  This seems a little late due to the release of the film already this weekend.

Anyway I digress. Here is Beauty And The Beast 1991 and 2017 Side By Side.
